Beth & Ali’s Destination Wedding in Budapest

Travelling to photograph a wedding is such a privilege. When Beth and Ali enquired with me to join them in Budapest to say their I do’s, I felt a surge of excitement at the thought!

I met with them for a glass of wine and we spoke at length about their plans to celebrate their big day, in Budapest with 80 of their friends and family!

Budapest is the first city break Beth and Ali went on together, so it seemed romantically appropriate that they get married there!

I arrived the day before to do a rekkie, it was my first time in Budapest and it did not disappoint. Stacked with history, elegance and timeless energy, this beautiful City soon stole my heart too!

On the eve of their wedding, I joined the couple and their guests on a boat trip down the Danube. I took a few flashy snaps of everyone enjoying grazing boards and prosecco. It was a real treat and a great introduction to everyone.

I started the morning of the wedding with Beth, her mum and bridesmaids. The bridal preparations were in an idyllic building which made for beautiful photographs. The old stonework was stunning for detail shots and the high ceilings perfect for capturing Beth getting ready. Her dad’s reaction to her reveal was so very emotional and will forever be one of my favourite dad and daughter moments.

I walked a few blocks away to Ali next, not forgetting it was his wedding day too! Enjoying some Hungarian beers with his pals, I captured natural shots inside another stunning building and then headed outside for some Reservoir Dog style walking shots in the street!

I joined the boys in a cab as we made our way to the architectural marvel, Fisherman’s Bastion for the wedding ceremony.

The weather was inclement, so a decision was made to marry Beth & Ali indoors. The wedding planners Andrea and Orsolya from RGSmartevents deserve a little shout out here, for their support on the run up to this moment and beyond! The room was decorated to perfection, with stunning florals created by Zoli of Zolej Florals.

The Ceremony

The ceremony was presented in English and Hungarian, many tears and emotions were shared amongst Beth and Ali’s guests!

A lucky break in the weather after the ceremony allowed us to venture up to the terrace, for confetti and champagne. I took the opportunity to capture the group shots, bridal party and couple shots up here too! The views are panoramic over the Danube and absolutely breathtaking, I felt so grateful for the dry spell we were having!

Beth looked effortlessly graceful in her wedding Gown from the Bridal Mill, Ali wore a Gieves & Hawkes dinner suit and Laboutins, accompanied by their stylish wedding party in black tie and black dresses adorned by the maids! This wedding oozed class and elegance and my photographic fix was being met at every turn!

The Reception

Canapes and drinks continued to be served, accompanied by beautiful music by violinist, Izsak. Lovely candid photos and mingling is one of my favourite times on a wedding day!

As the heavens opened, we headed to our next stop Szatyor Bar for more drinks, delicious Hungarian food and of course a party!

First dance, a sparkler cake and flashy dancefloor vibes finished the night magically! Everyone was up dancing and taking in the wonderful hospitality at this exquisite Hungarian wedding!

After a full day, with a full heart, I walked home to my air b n b in the rain. Taking in every moment from this wonderful wedding, thinking to myself how lucky I am to get to call this my job!
